Youth Olympic Games Blog Post: Day Eight

For the next two weeks, Team USA's ice hockey team will be in Lillehammer, Norway, playing at the Youth Olympic Games. Every day, team leader TC Lewis will be blogging about the team's experiences as they gear up to try and bring home the gold. This is an insider's view that readers won't be able to find anywhere else. For more information on the Youth Olympic Games, click here.

We've been here for eight days now and still have yet to see any snow. I haven't heard any complaints about it but there is at least one person from the South -- me -- who wouldn't mind a bit of winter wonderland. As cold as it has been, the weather has been terrific, especially if you dress properly.

Today, we had some morning meetings and then a 1:00 p.m. practice.  At the start of practice, we had our "official" team photo taken. I am not sure when we get to see it but hopefully it came out nice.

After practice, the players had to hustle to get to a nearby hotel for Learn and Share Focus Day. It's a players-only event and is a big pat of what the Youth Olympics are all about. The players attended some seminars and acted out some skits in front of their fellow athletes. Later today, the team will get back together, and hopefully I'll learn more of what went on and whether the players enjoyed themselves.

While the players were gone, the coaches took the time to watch a lot of video and prepare for tomorrow's team meeting. The rest of the staff went down to the village and did some shopping and had a bite to eat.

Tomorrow, we hope to get back to our winning ways. Wish us luck.

Go Team USA
