Youth Olympic Games Blog Post: Day Nine

For the next two weeks, Team USA's ice hockey team will be in Lillehammer, Norway, playing at the Youth Olympic Games. Every day, team leader TC Lewis will be blogging about the team's experiences as they gear up to try and bring home the gold. This is an insider's view that readers won't be able to find anywhere else. For more information on the Youth Olympic Games, click here.

Today was a full day for the staff and a lighter day for the players, which all led to a nice win over the Russians and a second place finish in the round robin portion of the tournament. That means we play tomorrow against the third-place Russians again. The Canadians finished in first place and Finland finished in fourth so they play each other in the early game tomorrow afternoon.

Our day was pretty typical: we ate, we rested and then we ate some more. Between all of that resting and eating, we also had time for a team video session and meeting as well as some light calisthenics.

The day did start with some change as we had a photographer “embedded” with the team from wake up until the game. It was a neat experience for the players I would think and it didn’t seem to disrupt anything we did. The cameraman was awesome to work with and had very nice things to say about the team. He was impressed!

Instead of me posting a few photos today, I am going to rely on the work of some professionals.

Now it is on to the semis and an 8:00 p.m. game against Russia.

Go Team USA

On the official Lillehammer 2016 page, there are hundreds of pictures. Additionally, here is an article on Team USA.
