What a great game! Now we're on to face Canada in the gold medal game on Sunday at 3:00 p.m. local time. As you can probably imagine, the boys are really pumped after tonight's game. To beat the Russians two games in a row is quite special, particularly when the second one is in the semifinals.
I can't say the guys look tired but we are paying close attention to their rest needs so we let them sleep in today until 10:00 a.m. As the weeks have progressed, we have paid more and more attention to the hockey side of this event. We're concentrating on getting more sleep, having good eating habits and all of our meetings are focused on getting better.
There is quite a buzz for the team in the Olympic Village. Many athletes from other sports are talking with and about the team. As I've mentioned, our players have befriended several other U.S. athletes here, so there are a lot of fellow American Olympians watching our games. Today, we had three skiers and snowboarders that have won gold medals sitting right behind our bench, waving American flags the entire game. It was really neat to see the support from our fellow Team USA athletes. The players definitely appreciate it. The USOC staff is really turning out in great numbers as well.
Tomorrow, we are going to let the boys sleep in a while and then we have a 3:00 p.m. practice.
Go Team USA
Takk
