What’s your favorite drill?
I like the St. Louis drill – it’s a passing, skating, shooting drill.
How do you mentally prepare for a game?
I have pretty much routine – eat the same meal, wake up at the same time, nap the same amount of time.
Do you listen to music to get ready?
Whatever they have on in the locker room as long as it’s rock ’n’ roll.
What’s your favorite music during warm ups?
AC/DC is pretty good
What kind of food do you eat before a game?
Chicken pasta with Alfredo sauce
How far in advance do you eat?
I eat about four hours before a game.
How do you unwind after a big game?
Just lay there

When did you start playing hockey?
I started when I was 4 years old
Who was your first coach?
John Bowkus was my Squirts coach.
Who was your favorite coach growing up?
Mike Eaves of the NTDP
What other sports did you play growing up?
Lacrosse, soccer and baseball
How important is it to play other sports?
Playing sports allow you to keep busy and keep up with friends.
What advice do you have for young players?
Go to the rink and practice as much as possible
Who’s the toughest player to play against? Why?
It’s hard to play against guys who run around and hit and crazy. A lot of the fighters are like that. I don’t want to mention any names.
Who’s the toughest goalie to score on?
Ryan Miller (Buffalo Sabres and former Michigan State Spartan)
Do you like the shootout?
Yes. I think that’s one of the better things they’ve done for hockey.
What’s your best shootout move?
Fake shot, backhand top shelf.
